Press Release

Three Attorneys from Hughes Watters Askanase Named to 2011 Edition of The Best Lawyers in America® Peer-Review Publication

HOUSTON (Sept. 27, 2010) – Three lawyers from Hughes Watters Askanase L.L.P. were selected  by  their  peers  for  inclusion  in The  Best  Lawyers  in  America®  2011  (Copyright  2010  by Woodward/White,  Inc.,  of  Aiken,  S.C.).  Founding  partner   David  J.  Askanase,  co-managing  partner Wayne Kitchens, and of counsel attorney Joel P. Kay were named in the Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law category of the 2011 edition.

Kay has been included in every edition since the 6th edition released in 1996. Askanase has been included in every edition of The Best Lawyers of America since the 11th  edition, released in 2006. Kitchens has been listed in the 15th, 16th and 17th editions of the publication.

Best Lawyers is the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession. Best Lawyers helps lawyers and clients find legal counsel in unfamiliar jurisdictions or unfamiliar practice areas.    Best  Lawyers  compiles  lists  of  outstanding  attorneys  by  conducting  exhaustive  peer-review surveys in which thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. In the United States, Best Lawyers publishes an annual referral guide, The Best Lawyers in America, which includes 39,766 attorneys in 80 practice areas, covering all 50 states and the District of Columbia.  The current,  17th   edition  of  The  Best  Lawyers  in  America  is  based  on  more  than  3.1  million  detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.  Because Best Lawyers neither requires nor allows listing fees, selection for the list is considered a superior distinction.

“I am sincerely honored to be in the company of so many capable lawyers. And I am very thankful to all of the attorneys who recommended Wayne, Joel and me for this distinction as a Best Lawyer in America,” Askanase commented.
