Hughes Watters Askanase Expands Wills and Probate Practice

With Addition of Dirk R. Moore as Senior Counsel

HOUSTON, Texas (Sept. 13, 2011)Hughes Watters Askanase L.L.P. (HWA)  has expanded its Wills and Probate Practice Area to include estate planning and trusts with the addition of Dirk R. Moore as Senior Counsel. 

Moore joined Hughes Watters Askanase in July 2011. He also will support the firm’s Real Estate and Finance and Business Planning and Strategy Practice Areas.  He has been practicing law since 1998.

At HWA,Moorewill assist clients in planning for and managing intergenerational transfer of wealth while also minimizing tax consequences. He will also assist HWA’s real estate and corporate clients with contract negotiations, business formations, stock and asset purchases, mergers and acquisitions, financing arrangements and other needs. 

For the past eight years, Moore worked as an attorney with De Lange, Hudspeth, McConnell & Tibbets, L.L.P. where he counseled business and individual clients in a wide range of tax and estate planning matters, with an emphasis on estate planning and family wealth transfer. He has extensive experience in trust matters, pre- and post-marital agreements, tax planning for closely held businesses, and charitable law matters.

Moore previously served as an assistant vice president and trust officer with Kanaly Trust Company inHouston where he managed comprehensive financial planning and investment strategies, including advising clients on the negotiation of employment agreements, retirement analysis, and review of overall asset allocation needs.  

Moore earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law in 1998. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in philosophy from theUniversity ofHouston in 1995.Moore is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association’s Real Estate Section, Taxation Section, and Probate, Trusts, & Estates Section.
