CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

Robert "Bob" Mullins has been practicing law for more than 20 years.  He joined Hughes Watters Askanase in June 2005 through a merger between Hughes Watters Askanase and Gunn, Mullins & Farrell, LLP. Bob felt that Hughes Watters Askanase offered him, Gary Gunn and John Farrell an opportunity to expand their scope of work and add depth to their practice.

Bob began his career with Thelen Marrin Johnson & Bridges, LLP in 1988. He was one of the founding partners with Mullins & Hlavinka in 1993.  From 1997 through 2000, Bob served as corporate counsel for a Houston-based company, Interactive Visual Systems, which later dissolved. He and Gary Gunn, a co-managing partner at HWA, formed Gunn & Mullins, LLP in 2000. John Farrell, of counsel to HWA, joined Gunn & Mullins, LLP to form Gunn, Mullins & Farrell, LLP in 2002.

CLIENT EXPERIENCE

Bob's practice is focused on business planning and strategy. He also has experience in supporting real estate developers with a variety of land acquisition transactions. Bob's experience includes:

  • License Agreement from a public Japanese wireless content company giving my client (a U.S. start-up) an exclusive license to wireless content within North America.
  • A series of Purchase Agreements from a Chinese Shipyard whereby my client (a US joint venture) will construct and commission the propulsion and related electrical systems for a large number of vessels to be constructed over a period of several years.
  • Construction Agreement with a Chinese construction company calling for the construction of a large manufacturing facility located in a Chinese Export Processing Zone, and the negotiation and documentation of the related governmental authorizations for the construction and operation of the facility.
  • Development Agreement with an international entertainment conglomerate whereby my client (a small US company) developed a device now widely used in amusement parks. This Development Agreement was followed by a License Agreement with the same company giving my client a license to use licensor developed technology to produce additional products for sale to third parties.
