CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Dirk Moore joined Hughes Watters Askanase in July 2011 to expand the firm's Wills and Probate Practice Area to include Estate Planning and Trusts. He also supports the firm's Real Estate and Finance and Business Planning and Strategy practice Areas. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas and has been practicing law since 1998.
Dirk's experience and well-established business relationships enhance HWA's ability to address a viable need among the firm's high wealth client base. He assists HWA clients in planning for and managing intergenerational transfers of wealth while also minimizing tax consequences. He also works with the firm's real estate and corporate clients with regard to contract negotiations, business formations, mergers, acquisitions, financing arrangements and other needs.
For the past eight years, Dirk worked as a transactional attorney with De Lange, Hudspeth, McConnell & Tibbets, L.L.P., where he counseled business and individual clients in a wide range of tax and estate planning matters with an emphasis on estate planning and family wealth transfer. He has extensive experience in trust matters, pre-and post-marital agreements, tax planning for closely held businesses, and charitable law matters. Dirk has counseled fiduciaries in the administration of trusts and estates, including related probate and trust litigation. Dirk has also advised clients on strategic transactional matters, including formation and taxation of corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, and joint ventures.
Dirk also served as an assistant vice president and trust officer with Kanaly Trust Company in Houston where he managed comprehensive financial planning and investment strategies, including advising clients on the negotiation of employment agreements, retirement analysis, and review of overall asset allocation needs.
CLIENT EXPERIENCE
Dirk's practice focuses on integrating his legal, financial and business experience to support his clients. Most of his practice has centered on tax and estate planning, real estate and business formations.
Dirk's experience includes, but is not limited to:
- Representation of both sellers and buyers of commercial real estate, representation of landlords and tenants in commercial leases, negotiation and preparation of financing documents for real estate acquisitions, negotiation and preparation of construction contracts, representation of lenders and borrowers in commercial financing transactions, and representation of clients in related litigation matters;
- Representation of an investor in the acquisition of real estate valued at approximately $40 million consisting of two large tracts of a master planned community in Galveston County, Texas, along with related financing;
- Representation of a business owner in the multi-million dollar sale of the business to a national trucking company, including the negotiation of post-closing employment contracts; and
- Representation of fiduciaries in the administration of estates valued in excess of $200 million.

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS
Dirk resides in Pearland, a suburb of Houston, with his wife and twin daughters. When he is not working, he enjoys playing flag football in a recreational sports league.
