CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Brendetta Scott joined Hughes Watters Askanase in 2003. Brendetta was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1999. She is licensed to practice law in Texas, including the U.S. District Courts of Texas (Northern, Eastern, Western, and Southern). She is also a certified mediator.
Before joining HWA, Brendetta practiced family law, tax law, and bankruptcy law. She also has worked as a title administrator with the American Tower Corporation, where she worked on the AT&T Fixed Wireless project. During her final year of law school, Brendetta served as an intern for The Honorable Manuel Leal of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of Texas. While attending law school, Brendetta was a Dean's List scholar and a member of the Christian Legal Society. As a member of the Christian Legal Society, she served as the group's secretary. She was also on the Board of Advocates as the Board's Client Counseling and Negotiations Coordinator. She also served as a mentor with the Black Law Students Association.
CLIENT EXPERIENCE
Brendetta represents a variety of mortgage companies and credit unions involved in complex, contested hearings and transactional matters. To be successful, these cases require an intensive amount of preparation and research. Often she encounters debtors who hide assets from creditors. Among the more notable assets that she has accounted for on behalf of a creditor was a Bentley.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH ACTIVITIES
Through the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Association and Shape Community Center, she has done pro bono work for those needing legal services, but unable to financially hire representation. In her Houston Bar Association volunteer role, she judged essays and posters submitted by area students on the topic of justice and law as part of Law Week.
HOBBIES AND SPECIAL INTERESTS
Brendetta enjoys spending time with her children and supporting their various endeavors.
